Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
Employing over 30 people, Pyro Fire Services is principally involved in the fire safety sector, specialising in fire risk assessments and surveys for passive fire protection including fire doors and fire stopping, with over £2.5 million turnover. The company’s application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.
The SafeContractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.
Gemma Archibald, Divisional CEO of Alcumus SafeContractor said:
“Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Pyro Fire has done.
The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
Erik Hudson, Managing Director of Pyro Fire Services said:
“Achieving this accreditation bolsters the existing list of recognised accreditations we already hold. Many clients are beginning to request this from their providers and we relish the opportunity as we hope it will drive standards upwards. The safety of our employees, subcontractors and clients are paramount and this priority is at the forefront of everything we do.”
We recognise the importance of maintaining high levels of accreditation as a company, and as individuals. Our certifications include The Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), and The Fire Industry Association (FIA). We’re third-party accredited by BAFE for Fire Risk Assessments, and our assessors are registered on the IFSM Fire Risk Assessors Register.
