This comes as part of a Government-driven ‘Building Risk Review’. The program involves commissioning research to develop an evidence base on fire safety risk in buildings, in order to assist building owners in the prioritisation of risks in existing buildings and prioritisation of buildings based on a broader understanding of risk.
It’s important to note that the service’s inspection officers, who are not directly involved in the SYFR project, will continue to inspect all buildings across South Yorkshire, regardless of height.
You can read all about the new project over on the South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue website
